The Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs has issued a warning to Kenyans living in Lebanon about fraudsters charging for evacuation services.

In a notice on Friday, October 4, the State Department of Diaspora Affairs reported receiving complaints of individuals demanding payment through the numbers 0717947103 and 0716625937.

The state department clarified that the evacuation process is fully funded by the government and is being conducted at no cost to the affected individuals.

"We would like to alert all Kenyans in Lebanon about reports of fraudsters exploiting vulnerable individuals. These individuals are unlawfully charging fees for evacuation using the numbers 0717947103 and 0716625937.

"Please be informed that the government of Kenya is conducting evacuations at no cost to citizens. The evacuation is entirely funded by the government and you should not pay anyone for these services," read part of the notice.

On Tuesday, October 1, the state department noted that all Kenyans wishing to be evacuated from Lebanon must register before the October 12 deadline.

In a statement, it expressed concern that several Kenyans in the Middle Eastern nation have not yet registered for evacuation.

"We are deeply concerned that a large number of Kenyans in Lebanon have not yet registered for evacuation despite our repeated calls. The deadline for registration is 12th October 2024. Any Kenyan who wishes to be evacuated must ensure that their registration is completed before this date," read part of the statement.
