"Don’t give central that seat again."

Former Bahati Member of Parliament Kimani Ngunjiri has urged President William Ruto not to appoint his deputy from the Central region if Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is removed from office.

Speaking in an interview on Monday, October 7, Ngunjiri claimed that it seemed the seat was the cause of political wrangles in the Mt Kenya region.

The ex-lawmaker asserted that the president should give the seat to a different region so that the residents of Mt Kenya can have peace.

“I want to urge the president because this seat of deputy president looks like it is the problem of central, if you succeed in removing Gachagua, don’t give central that seat again. Take it somewhere else so that people of Mt Kenya can stay in peace," Ngunjiri remarked.

The former lawmaker claimed that even if President Ruto appointed a deputy from the region in the event that Gachagua is removed, the residents of the region would perceive the individual as being 'planted'.

On October 2, Kapsaret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi hinted that President Ruto would pick his next deputy from the Mt. Kenya region if Gachagua is impeached.

The outspoken legislator explained that the region was among the cornerstones of the Head of State's administration.

"There's no doubt Murima is at the core of this government. No one has an issue with the majority of leaders from the mountain, save for one ill-behaved character. Even his replacement will surely come from the mountain. Sure, bet," he stated.

Meanwhile, Gachagua has apologised to President Ruto ahead of a special plenary sitting at the National Assembly on Tuesday, October 8, regarding his impeachment.

Speaking during a church service on Sunday, October 6, the deputy president asked Ruto to forgive him if he felt offended in any way.

"In our commitment to work, probably in one way or the other, we have wronged somebody. I want to say, my brother President William Ruto, if in our zeal to work, I have wronged you please find it in your heart to forgive me," Gachagua stated.
