Former Rarieda Member of Parliament and Kenyan Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Bob Francis Jalang’o Nyanduga, is dead.

Rarieda lawmaker Otiende Amollo announced Jalang'o's passing away on Thursday, July 17.

In his condolence statement, Amollo said the late Jalang’o holds a special place in the history of Rarieda Constituency, having served as the inaugural MP.

“It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that I learn of the demise of Hon. Bob Francis Jalang'o Nyanduga. Hon. Jalango holds a special place in the history of Rarieda, having been the inaugural Member of Parliament for Rarieda Constituency, serving from 1988 to 1992.

“His tenure laid a foundation for our Constituency which continues to shape the Rarieda we know today,” said Amollo.

The ODM MP also extended his condolences to the family and friends of the former Rarieda lawmaker.

Further, Amollo noted that the late Jalang’o's service and pioneering spirit will always be remembered in Rarieda’s history.

“We share in your grief during this immensely trying time. His legacy of Service and his pioneering spirit will forever be etched in the annals of Rarieda's history. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” he added.

The late Jalang’o served as the Rarieda MP from 1988 to 1992. During his tenure, he was a member of several key committees, including the Select Committee tasked with investigating ethnic clashes in Kenya, as well as the Public Accounts Committee.

In 1997, Jalang’o was appointed Kenya’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations agencies in Rome, as the Kenyan Ambassador to Italy, Greece, and Poland.

His diplomatic career began in 1993 when he was appointed Ambassador to Zambia, Malawi, and Botswana.
