Raila has not declared a stance on Gachagua's impeachment.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has issued a statement over an alleged meeting between MPs from the party and Raila Odinga.

On Saturday, October 5, a poster was shared across social media platforms alleging that Raila was set to meet ODM MPs to discuss their position on Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's impeachment.

However, come Monday, October 7, the party dismissed claims of the meeting by sharing the poster with a "fake" label plastered on it.

"There is no such meeting today. Good day," ODM wrote on X.

This comes barely a week after ODM Deputy party leader Simba Arati said the party did not play a part in the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

The Kisii Governor said that what is happening in the impeachment process is the prerogative and mandate of Parliament.

“As ODM party members, we do not say that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua should be dismissed but since the matter is before parliamentarians, let the matter take its natural course,” Arati clarified.

“We do not have anything to do with it, we just want the government to do its role and we as ODM remain an intact party. We have helped President William Ruto to stabilise his administration and that is all," the governor stated.

The National Assembly has scheduled a plenary for Tuesday, October 8, during which the deputy president will present himself to shake himself off the charges forming the basis for his proposed impeachment.
