Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino is celebrating his birthday on the same day Kenya is marking Mazingira Day.
On Thursday, October 10, the outspoken lawmaker took to his social media accounts to express gratitude for the love he’s receiving from Kenyans on his special day.
Owino revealed that he had received Ksh370,000 in birthday gifts but urged Kenyans to stop sending him money, acknowledging the tough financial situation many are facing.
"A big thank you to all Kenyans who are sending me Mpesa for my birthday today. We are at Sh370,000 so far. I suggest you stop, please; let that money help you somewhere because I understand what you're going through as a Kenyan. God bless you all," he remarked.
Some of his supporters insisted on sending him money even after he requested them not to, asking for his number to send the money.

"Where is your number I send mine?" Asked one to which Owino replied, "Please don't send for today, but I respect you so much."
While celebrating his birthday, the legislator quoted from the Bible in the book of Psalms 16: 5-6 which states, "Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance."
Owino is known for his outspoken stance on national matters but recently he was skipped the debate on the impeachment motion of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Reacting on the same, the lawmaker stated that he was engaged with other important matters affecting his constituents and will appear in Parliament when such issues are presented.
"You'll see me in parliament when these issues are presented but they will not bring them. I was highly engaged with other important and urgent matters affecting my constituents. The speed with which Rigathi was impeached should be the same speed used to solve Kenyans challenges," he remarked.
