Meanwhile, low night temperatures are expected in Nairobi and Mt Kenya counties.

The Kenya Meteorological Department has projected the rainfall for Nairobi and its neighbouring counties.

As revealed in its 7-day weather forecast released on Tuesday, light showers will be witnessed in parts of the highlands East of the Rift Valley.

Apart from Nairobi, this includes Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu and Tharaka-Nithi.

On the other hand, rain is also expected during the day, especially in the afternoons.

"Intermittent cloudiness and light rains are expected over few places in the mornings giving way to sunny intervals. Afternoon showers are likely to occur over several places," Kenya Met projected.

"Nights are likely to be partly cloudy though occasional showers may occur over few places."

Therefore, city residents were advised to be on the lookout and dress according depending on the weather patterns observed.

Regarding temperature estimates for Nairobi and the neighbouring counties, Kenya Met has projected cold nights with temperatures falling as low as 10 degrees Celsius.

"High average daytime (maximum) temperatures of more than 30°C will be experienced in some parts of the Coast, the South-eastern lowlands, North-eastern and North-western Kenya," Kenya Met reported.

"Average night-time (minimum) temperatures will be low (less than 10°C) over some parts of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley and the Central Rift Valley."
