Wetangula mourned Opore as a selfless leader who prioritized the people of Bonchari Constituency.

Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang'ula has announced the passing of former Bonchari Member of Parliament (MP) Zebedeo Opore.

In a statement on Monday, October 21, Wetangula mourned Opore as a selfless leader who prioritized the people of Bonchari Constituency.

"His selfless leadership made him prioritize the needs of the Bonchari people. The values he held are to be emulated by all leaders.

"On my behalf and on behalf of the Members of Parliament, I express our sincere condolences to his family, friends and the people of Bonchari following his demise," he wrote on X.

Former Kisii Governor James Ongwae also mourned Opore, describing him as a humble and selflessly dedicated leader.

"Our friendship dates back to our school days and continued well beyond. Throughout my tenure as Governor of Kisii County, Opore was a steadfast supporter of my initiatives and always wished me well.

"To his family, relatives, friends, and constituents across Kenya, please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. May you find strength in one another and comfort in the cherished memories you hold,'' he said.

On the other hand, Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka termed Opore a resourceful leader who worked to uplift the lives of his constituents.

"Opore worked meticulously to uplift the lives of his people and his contributions on earth will be remembered for generations to come.

"He was a humble, soft-spoken resourceful leader who left a recognizable mark in Bonchari, especially on the issue of road infrastructure," he said.

Opore served as the Member of Parliament for Bonchari from 1997 until 2007, and again briefly in 2013.

Additionally, he held the position of Assistant Minister in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Opore was educated in economics at the University of Nairobi and the University of Bradford.
