Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has denied assertions that he is among the top guns eyeing the Interior Cabinet Secretary post after Kithure Kindiki.
Kindiki is awaiting taking over the deputy president's office following the impeachment of Rigathi Gachagua, whose move to seek redress in the courts of law has stalled the transition process.
Reports emerged on social media claiming that his ODM party had fronted him to occupy the post.
Nyaribari Masaba Daniel Manduku corroborated the claims, asserting that the Raila Odinga-led party had settled on Junet to occupy the powerful post in the National Executive.
In light of the speculation, Junet came out to distance himself from the reports.

He said he had not positioned himself among those deemed appropriate to succeed Kindiki.
The MP did not however rule out the possibility of him joining the National Executive should the chance arise.
"I have been made aware of unfounded innuendoes to the effect that I have shown interest in the position of Cabinet Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration and, or, that the ODM Party has submitted my name for consideration in such a role. Whereas an opportunity to serve fellow Kenyans in any capacity is always welcome, I wish to inform the public that I am neither one of the people angling for the job nor has the ODM Party shown any interest in seeking to have another party expert join the government in that capacity," he said.
The lawmaker added that he is currently fixated on his new role of leading the opposition in the National Assembly, having taking over from former Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi who President William Ruto appointed to head the Energy and Petroleum docket as its Cabinet Secretary.
"In any case, I have just recently assumed the leadership of the Minority Party in the National Assembly, which is an equally important constitutional office in our governance architecture," added Junet.
