Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi has been arrested at Kisii School

Reports alleged that Maangi was arrested by DCI officers and driven to Kisii Central Police Station.

Authorities have not yet given a reason for his arrest so far. He was waiting to welcome Deputy President William Ruto to the burial of politician Simeon Nyachae.

Maangi's arrest comes after ormer Kisii Town Mayor Samuel Omwando alongside other unknown number youths were nabbed on Sunday.

Those arrested spent Sunday night at Kisii police station though it is not clear the offences they had committed.

Reports indicate that a section of youth was regrouping to heckle specific speakers during the ceremony at the stadium.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM party leader Raila Odinga are expected to attend the funeral ceremony.
