The main suspect in the incident was captured on camera accessing an apartment while armed with a hammer.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have identified two suspects in connection with a violent robbery in Eastleigh, Nairobi, which was captured on CCTV.

In a statement on Sunday, November 3, the DCI revealed that the main suspect, reportedly a Ugandan national, entered Ushirika Tower in Eastleigh armed with a hammer and proceeded to the sixth floor with the assistance of a house-help named Everlyne, also a Ugandan national.

Upon reaching an apartment on the sixth floor, the DCI disclosed that the suspect, with Everlyne's help, assaulted a 20-year-old Somali woman identified as Hakimo Muhidin who was inside.

"On Friday, November 1, 2024, around 4:40 PM, an individual armed with a hammer managed to enter Ushirika Tower in Eastleigh. After gaining entry, he proceeded to an apartment on the sixth floor with the assistance of a house-help named Everlyne, who is a Ugandan national.

"Upon entering, the assailant, reportedly a Ugandan national, grievously assaulted a 20-year-old Somali house-help named Hakimo Muhidin with assistance from Evelyne," DCI remarked.

The directorate stated that Muhidin sustained serious injuries, including a broken tooth and injuries to her hand, head, and legs, prompting her to seek medical assistance.

The incident was captured on CCTV.

"After receiving medical treatment, she has been discharged and is currently recovering at a relative's home in the Tassia estate area," DCI stated.

DCI noted that during the incident, several valuables, including pieces of gold jewellery and an unspecified amount of money, were stolen.

"During the incident, various valuable items were pilfered, including pieces of gold jewellery, an unspecified amount of cash in both KES and U.S. dollars, as well as four laptops belonging to the family, which were reported stolen during the incident," DCI remarked.

DCI added, "At the time of the incident, the tenant, a Somali man, was not at home; he was out with his children, while his wife was reported to be in India for medical treatment."

The two suspects escaped after the incident and DCI has launched a manhunt for the duo as investigations into the incident continue.
