According to Joho, if elected president in 2022, he’ll allocate Sh300 billion to youth and women enterprises.

Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho on Tuesday rolled out his presidential campaign with a huge pledge to women and the youth.

According to Joho, if elected president in 2022, he’ll allocate Sh300 billion to youth and women enterprises.

Speaking at Frere Town grounds in Nyali Sub-county while distributing bursaries, Joho rubbished recent remarks by Deputy President William Ruto who pledged to allocate Sh29 billion to support small-scale businesses, noting that the cash was too little to make any difference.

Governor Joho noted that he is optimistic of flying the ODM presidential flag, adding that it is now time for former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to endorse his bid.

“Ruto came here and pledged to allocate Sh29 billion to support small businesses. This is peanuts compared to the national budget. I pledge to allocate Sh300 billion to youth and women so as to uplift their businesses and grow the economy,” he said.

Speaking at the same function, Kisauni MP Ali Mbogo vowed to support Joho’s presidential bid.

He urged the Mombasa Governor to bring together all Coastal residents so that they make speak in one voice come 2022.

“The unity of the Coast region will enable us earn respect and recognition at the national level and I am ready to take a bullet for Coast unity to happen,” said Mbogo.

Meanwhile, Kenyans are closely following the happenings at ODM party to see how they select their 2022 presidential flag bearer considering that several senior leaders have expressed interest in the party’s ticket.
