Laikipia Senator John Kinyua has resigned from his position in the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC).

News of the resignation were revealed on Tuesday, November 19 in the Senate by Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot.

In his notice of motion, Cheruiyot informed the house that Kinyua would be replaced by Nyeri Senator Wahome Wamatinga.

However, the reasons behind the resignation were not revealed.


"The Senators have unanimously by applause approved the appointment of Nyeri Senator Wahome Wamatinga as Parliamentary Service Commissioner to replace Laikipia Senator John Kinyua who resigned from that office," read the statement by the Senate.

PSC is made up of 11 members and is chaired by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetagula.

The commission consists of representatives of the majority and minority parties of both houses including a civilian who is experienced in public service (Johnson Muthama). 

"The Commission is responsible for providing services and facilities to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of Parliament," reads the 2010 Constitution.

"Additionally PSC prepares annual estimates of expenditure of the parliamentary service and submits them to the National Assembly for approval, and exercising budgetary control over the service."
