The Ministry of Interior has disclosed that motorists will be prohibited from using certain roads in the country due to flooding.
In a statement on Tuesday, December 3, the Ministry announced that Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has warned motorists that they would be banned from using roads considered unsafe.
The PS was speaking in Busia County, which has been severely affected by the heavy rains currently being experienced across the country.
"Busia and Kisumu counties are among the hardest-hit following heavy rainfall over the weekend and the past week, which has displaced 3,970 households.
"Speaking at Lunyofu Primary School, which has been converted into a temporary shelter for 500 displaced households, PS Raymond Omollo highlighted the need for continued support for the affected communities. He also warned that vehicles will be prohibited from using roads and bridges deemed unsafe," read part of the statement.

On Saturday, the Ministry issued flood alerts to five regions in the country owing to the heavy rains.
In a statement dated Saturday, November 30, the Ministry listed North Eastern, South Eastern, Coast, Central and South Rift Valley regions in the advisory.
According to the government, the regions were likely to experience storms.
Meanwhile, the Ministry noted that temporary evacuations could be done in areas that are flood-prone.
"Residents of flood-prone areas who may be temporarily relocated for their safety are urged to cooperate with these response teams," read part of the statement.
