The prime suspect in the murder of Kirinyaga University student Sospeter Osunga, alias 'Akoko the Billionaire' has been arrested. 

In an update on Monday, December 9, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said investigations linked Brian Otieno Maurice to the incident that occurred on November 18, 2024, in Ayani. 

According to the investigating agency, Osuga was attacked by a gang and sustained fatal wounds on his back believed to have been caused by a sharp object. 

"Following thorough investigations, three individuals were initially arrested and provided crucial information which coupled with other intelligence leads resulted to the apprehension of the main suspect who is set to be arraigned in court today," the DCI said.

According to preliminary investigations, on the fateful day, Osuga is reported to have arrived at a nightclub accompanied by male and female friends. 

While there, he offered to buy drinks but upon learning that a well-known Ohangla musician was performing live at a nearby club, he and his friends decided to relocate. 

As they approached the new venue, a commotion broke out. 

A crowd followed Osuga, and witnesses stated that the altercation involved his group and a boda boda gang operating in the vicinity.

Amid the chaos, the riders turned violent, attacking Osuga and stabbing him, leaving him critically injured. 

His friends were also assaulted during the confrontation, suffering stab wounds inflicted by the mob following the dispute.
