This milestone was reached earlier than last financial year - KRA.

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has surpassed the Ksh1 trillion mark in revenue collection for the first five months of the 2024/25 financial year.

In a statement on Monday, December 9, KRA disclosed that the milestone was reached on November 30, a few days earlier than the previous financial year.

"Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has surpassed the Kshs 1 trillion mark, collecting Ksh1.005 trillion as of 30th November 2024! This milestone was reached earlier than last financial year when it was achieved on 7th December 2023.

"Revenue collected in the first five months of the 2024/25 FY (July - November) grew by 4.3%, totaling Ksh1.005 trillion compared to Kshs963.746 billion in the same period of the previous year," KRA remarked.

At the same time, the taxman noted that it collected Kshs 643.790 billion in domestic taxes between July and November 2024, which reflects a growth of 3.5 percent.

According to KRA, Ksh621.984 billion was collected in the same period last year. The authority stated that it aims to collect Ksh2.704 trillion by the end of the financial year. 

"With a clear upward trajectory, the Authority is confident of achieving this goal and sustaining Kenya's economy," KRA explained.

On customs revenue, the authority indicated that it was a beacon of hope, recording monthly collections of over Ksh70 billion for four consecutive months (August-November 2024/25).

KRA disclosed that the customs revenue totalled at Ksh359.571 billion, which is a 5.9 percent growth from the previous financial year.
