Several people were injured on Sunday night, December 15, after a fire broke out at Vietnam village in Mukuru Kwa Njenga, Nairobi.
Confirming the incident, the Kenya Red Cross disclosed that four people were treated at the scene of the incident, while one who was critically injured was taken to the hospital.
The humanitarian organization added that the fire was successfully contained by the Nairobi City County Fire Brigade and community members.
"A fire has broken out at Vietnam Village, Mukuru Kwa Njenga in Nairobi County, affecting a residential area. Response teams, led by the Nairobi City County Fire Brigade, are on the ground working to contain the situation.
"Update: The fire has been contained thanks to the Nairobi City County Fire Brigade and community members. Four minor casualties were treated on-site, while one critical case was evacuated to the hospital. Approximately 70 households and 10 businesses are reportedly affected," the Kenya Red Cross stated.

Meanwhile, no fatalities were reported following the incident and the cause of the fire has not yet been established.
The incident comes a few months after another deadly fire broke out at Mukuru Kwa Njenga near Muhindi Mweusi in Nairobi County, destroying 100 households.
In the September 16 incident, the Kenya Red Cross disclosed that the fire was contained in a joint effort with Nairobi County Fire Brigade, Kenya Police, and community-based disaster responders.
