Sirisia Member of Parliament John Waluke has issued a warning to former President Uhuru Kenyatta following his advice to the youth to stand firm in fighting for their rights.
Speaking on Sunday, January 19, in Bungoma County, Waluke claimed that Uhuru's remarks were driven by jealousy, arguing that such a call was not made during his tenure as president.
The lawmaker further reminded the former president that if the country were to face challenges, he too would be affected since he remains part of it.
“Our former president, telling our young people to get back to the streets to fight the government is a mistake. And that’s jealousy because during his tenure Kenyans did not do that. Why should the young be incited to cripple the government?
"When the country will be in a problem, even him, even though he's wealthy, will also be there to face it. And I want to tell all the young people not to follow what the former president said. He is retired. Leave him to enjoy his pension,” Waluke stated.

The lawmaker spoke in the presence of President William Ruto during a church service at Cheptais Boys’ High School, Bungoma County.
During the event, President Ruto called for the unity of all Kenyans, maintaining that the young people needed job opportunities and not confrontations.
On Friday, January 17, the former head of state told the people to boldly fight for their rights and not allow anyone to take away what they have worked for.
"The Gen Zs are the story of the future; fight for your rights, don't just stay there while people are taking away what's yours. Don't allow anyone to take away what's yours, you have worked for it, so make sure you keep what's yours," Uhuru remarked.
