President William Ruto appointed former President Uhuru Kenyatta's allies to the government in his recent cabinet shake-up.

Suna East Member of Parliament John Mbadi has expressed support for the recent nominations to the cabinet by President William Ruto.

In a statement on Saturday, December 21, Junet said the appointments were a step toward fostering national unity and equitable development.

The MP emphasized the importance of a broad-based government as a vehicle for promoting shared prosperity across the country.

"As staunch proponents of the formation of a broad-based government to entrench national unity, equitable development, and shared prosperity, we welcome the new leaders nominated by H.E President William Ruto to serve in the cabinet of the Republic of Kenya," he stated.

The legislator added that Kenyans are only interested in service delivery and not who is nominated to serve as Cabinet Secretary.

"As Kenyans, we are only interested in service delivery by the government and we don't care who brings the service; John Mbadi, Opiyo Wandayi, Mutahi Kagwe, or William Kabogo it is fine. As taxpayers, we are only interested in service delivery," he added.

Ruto recently announced a broader cabinet reshuffle which included the appointment of former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo as the Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication, and the Digital Economy, and former Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe as the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development.

Former Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui was also brought on board as the Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade, and Industry.

This comes about two months after Energy and Petroleum CS Opiyo Wandayi publicly declared his support for Ruto's re-election bid in 2027.

Speaking in Kericho County on October 12, 2024, the CS emphasized that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is committed to collaborating with the Kenya Kwanza government beyond the upcoming elections.

"I believe that our political partnership will hold strong beyond 2027. We have decided to work with President William Ruto and will stay committed to that cause. We are part and parcel of the government and the government's foundations remain strong. It's our responsibility to ensure the government remains strong.

"Let us keep supporting the president so that he can continue leading the government even beyond the next elections. I come from Siaya, Nyanza and we are known to make firm decisions and stand by them. We have decided to work with the president. In the event you hear noises, don't be troubled, even one bit," he said.

This declaration came amid Ruto's efforts to form a more inclusive government by appointing members from opposition parties, including ODM, to key positions.

Wandayi, formerly a staunch opposition figure, defended this political alignment after being nominated as Cabinet Secretary.

"The country is more important than any individual or any party. That is why when President William Ruto invited us into his fold, I accepted the offer very fast," he said.
