Nine people have been confirmed dead following a grisly road accident at Chemoset, Soy, Uasin Gishu County along the Eldoret-Kitale Highway.
Confirming the incident, Uasin Gishu Police Commander Benjamin Mwathi said the accident occurred when a truck collided head-on with a shuttle.
Mwanthi also stated that three passengers who survived the accident, albeit with serious injuries, were rushed to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) for medical attention.
"The matatu had 12 passengers and only three children survived. We are cautioning our people to be careful on the road and avoid speeding," he said.

This comes about three weeks after several people were killed following an accident involving multiple vehicles at Duka Moja along the Mai Mahiu-Narok Highway.
Preliminary reports indicate that the accident occurred mid-morning on December 23, 2024, with seven bodies recovered from the scene.
According to witnesses, the accident involved two lorries, a Prado and a Public Service Vehicle (PSV).
While the cause of the accident was not immediately established, most of the vehicles were significantly damaged.
"So far we have collected 7 bodies and taken them to the mortuary. The accident involved two lorries, one Nissan and a Prado.
"We, therefore, call on Kenyans to observe traffic rules when they are travelling this festive season. Let them reduce their speed given that there are several vehicles on the road," an eyewitness said.
