The Royal House of the Netherlands has announced that His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and Her Majesty Queen Máxima will pay a state visit to Kenya.
In a statement on Tuesday, January 7, the Royal House stated that the visit, made at the invitation of President William Ruto, will commence on Tuesday, March 18 and end on Thursday, March 20, 2025.
"This first state visit to Kenya is a reaffirmation of the good relations and solid cooperation between our two countries. The Netherlands seeks to engage in new partnerships in various areas, and to deepen the countries’ existing ties.
"Kenya plays an increasingly influential role in the global arena. In addition, the Netherlands and Kenya maintain close economic relations, and both are major hubs and gateways to large regions," stated the Royal House.

The Royal House also pointed out the collaborative efforts of the two countries within the United Nations and other international organizations.
"Within the UN and other international organisations, too, our two countries work together actively towards goals relating to democracy, the rule of law, and independence of the judiciary. The Netherlands and Kenya also work together on challenges relating to peace and security, climate chang,e and food security," the Royal House added.
In addition to diplomatic discussions, the visit will feature economic missions focusing on sustainable agriculture and water management, areas of mutual importance.
"Economic missions focusing on sustainable agriculture and water will take place in parallel with the King and Queen’s state visit," the Royal House concluded.
Kenya and the Netherlands have long-standing economic ties, with both nations serving as major hubs for trade and commerce.
