Health Cabinet Secretary Dr. Deborah Barasa issued a warning.

Health Cabinet Secretary Dr. Deborah Barasa has warned against the spread of misinformation after a poster, allegedly from her official X account, circulated on social media.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, January 8, Dr. Barasa dismissed the poster, which falsely claimed that public hospitals had run out of medical supplies.

She urged the public to verify information before sharing it, emphasizing the need to combat the dissemination of fake news.

"Stop the spread of fake news! Verify information before sharing. Be part of the solution," CS Barasa posted on X.

This comes even as the Ministry of Health warned Kenyans last year about an X account impersonating CS Barasa.

In a statement on August 12, 2024, the Ministry disclosed that the X account, @Deborah_Mulongo, was falsely attributing itself to the Health Cabinet Secretary.

“ALERT: A fake X account, @Deborah_Mulongo, is falsely posing as the Cabinet Secretary for Health and spreading misinformation. Please be aware this is not the official account,” read part of the statement.

The Ministry confirmed that the official X account of Dr. Barasa is @deborabarasa, urging the public to follow the account for credible updates.

“The legitimate account is @deborabarasa. Follow the official account for accurate and timely updates,” the ministry remarked.
