The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has withheld the results of 2,829 candidates who sat for their KCSE exams in 2024.
According to Education CS Julius Ogamba, who released KCSE results on Thursday, January 9, over 2,000 students were suspected to have engaged in examination malpractice.
Ogamba added that the examination body would hold the results for 30 days and conduct investigations.
"The results of the 2,829 candidates suspected to have been involved in the examination irregularities have been withheld pending completion of investigations that should be completed within a period of 30 days from the official day of release of examination results," Ogamba stated.
Meanwhile, KNEC also cancelled the results of 840 candidates.

The council decided to cancel the results after determining malpractice on the side of the students.
On the other hand, 91 teachers involved in the 2024 KCSE are set to face disciplinary action for aiding in exam cheating.
"It is unfortunate that a few contracted professionals and teachers are, however, still insistent on ruining the future of our learners by subjecting them to examination malpractices," the CS lamented.
"Ninety-one (91) contracted professionals were reported to have been involved in aiding examination malpractices. Firm disciplinary action will be taken against such teachers."
