The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has refuted reports that it has revised academic qualifications for students seeking to pursue a bachelor's degree in education.
TSC on Monday, January 13, flagged a statement that made rounds on social media and purported that the commission had revised the qualifications.
The now-flagged statement claimed that individuals needed to have achieved a B- (minus) in both Mathematics and English and a C+ (plus) in their preferred teaching subjects to qualify for a degree in education.
TSC clarified that the requirements for such are listed on its website.
"Beware of fake news! The requirements for persons wishing to join the teaching service are outlined on our website http://tsc.go.ke. Stay informed," TSC stated.

According to TSC, individuals seeking to pursue a bachelor of education should possess a minimum mean grade of C+ (plus) and above or its equivalent and a C+ (plus) in two subjects of specialization.
On the other hand, those seeking to pursue a diploma in education should have attained a minimum grade of C (plain) in KCSE and at least a C (plain) in English.
They should also have attained a C (plain) in Mathematics for science-based courses and a D+ ( plus) in Mathematics in non-science-based courses.
This comes after Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba released the 2024 KCSE results on Thursday, January 9.
