The Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) Secretariat has announced that it will be holding nationwide campaigns to sensitize Kenyans on the Constitutional amendment push, effective March 1, 2021.

Addressing the media on Wednesday, BBI Secretariat co-chair Junet Mohammed noted that the campaigns will be spearheaded by special teams which will be formed and unveiled soon.

"We shall start the campaigns on March 1 and we shall have 10 committees that will spearhead the exercise across the country," he divulged.

According to the BBI Secretariat, President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM boss Raila Odinga will take lead in the sensitization campaigns.

The sensitization campaign is meant to empower Kenyans ahead of the referendum scheduled for June 2021.

During the presser, Dennis Waweru; Co-chair of the BBI secretariat expressed confidence that the Bill will pass. He based his remark on the overwhelming support BBI received in the county assemblies.

So far, over 30 county assemblies have given the Bill a green light, meaning it will soon be forwarded to the National Assembly and Senate for debate.

In the National Assembly and Senate, a simple majority is required for the Bill for pass.
