Karua revealed her new political party after meeting with former deputy president Rigatji Gachagua.

Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua has revealed the coming up of her new political outfit, with which she will vie for the presidency in 2027.

Speaking on Saturday, January 25, Karua said her new political vehicle would be the People's Liberation Party (PLP), which will have morphed from Narc Kenya.

She revealed this while addressing the gathering at her native home in Gichugu, Kirinyaga county, where she had hosted former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua and his allies.

Karua said the new party would be unveiled in February this year.

"I have been the leader of Narc Kenya, but we have rebranded. We will be launching our new brand next month. The name is the People's Liberation Party (PLP). We applied for it in May 2024, long before the Gen Z protests. The process is becoming complete," she said.

The former Gichugu MP invited Gachagua and his allies into her fold which she said was committed to challenging President William Ruto out of power.

"I have heard my brother (Gachagua) is also likely to be launching his, but I am inviting you all. PLP is a big house. If ready, come and walk with us. We welcome you to form another party, but let us walk together," Karua said.

This comes a fortnight after she announced plans to contest for the presidency in the 2027 General Election.

Speaking in Kirinyaga County on Friday, January 10, Karua said she would not deputise any candidate in the upcoming elections.

She affirmed that she was ready and prepared to oust President William Ruto's regime.

"I will not be a deputy to anybody again. At the right time I will ask for your votes for the presidency," she stated.

Karua contested for the Presidency in the 2013 elections and emerged 6th in the race that saw Former President Uhuru Kenyatta elected for the top seat.

In 2017, she contested for the Kirinyaga Governor's seat and lost to Anne Waiguru.

Later on, in 2022, she was picked as the presidential running mate for Azimio's Raila Odinga. The duo lost to the William Ruto-Rigathi Gachagua ticket.
