A report by Ipsos has revealed the most popular radio stations in the country.

A report by research firm Ipsos has revealed that Radio Citizen and Radio Jambo are among the most listened to radio stations in the country in terms of reach and share. 

In the report released on Tuesday, January 28, Radio Citizen commanded an audience reach of 10.4 percent while Radio Jambo came in second with a 4.3 percent audience reach.

Radio Maisha and Kameme Radio followed with an audience reach of 2.7 percent each, while Radio 47 and Ramogi FM had an audience reach of 2.5 percent and 2.4 percent respectively.

Despite being launched in 2023, Radio 47 commands an audience share of 5.8 percent, now described as one of the fastest-growing stations in the country.

Also in the report, Milele FM had an audience reach of 2.2 percent, Inooro FM 2.1 percent, Musyi FM 1.3 percent, Kass FM 1.3 percent, Classic FM 1.1 percent, Chamgei FM 1.0 percent, Mabiatu FM 0.8 percent and Msenangu FM 0.7 percent.

In terms of market share, the report indicated that Radio Citizen was leading with a market share of 20.8 percent while Kameme Radio came in second with a market share of 7.5 percent.

Radio Jambo was third with a market share of 7.2 percent while Ramogi FM followed with 6.7 percent and Radio 47 with 5.8 percent.

Radio Maisha had a market share of 4.9 percent, Milele FM 4.7 percent, Inooro FM 4.0 percent, Musyi FM 3.0 percent, Kass FM 2.6 percent, Chamgei FM 2.3 percent, Classic FM 2.0 percent, Mbaitu FM 1.9 percent and Egesa FM 1.9 percent.

In terms of urban and rural settings, the report revealed that 34.6 percent of the audience were in the urban setting, while 65.4 percent were in the rural setting.

According to the report, 50.1 percent of the audience were female while 49.9 were male.
