The IEBC selection panel has announced the recruitment of the next chairperson and commissioners of the electoral body.
In an advert released on Saturday, February 1, the panel listed the requirements that need to be met by persons seeking to take over the seat that was held by Wafula Chebukati.
Requirements for Chairperson
Those seeking to become the next chairperson must have worked for 15 years as either a superior court judge, academician, judicial officer or a legal officer such as a lawyer.
The applicants also have to meet leadership and integrity standards as set in Chapter 6 of the constitution.

Notably, those barred from participating in the recruitment include people who have held the office of an MP and MCA in the last five years. Those who contested in the last elections were also barred.
Kenyans holding public office or belonging to a governing body of a political party do not qualify for the position.
6 Commissioners
Those seeking to be commissioners must have a degree from a recognized university.
The applicants also have to have at least 10 years of experience in electoral matters, governance, management, finance, public administration, law, ICT or accounting.
Applicants for both the chairperson and commissioner's seat will be required to submit a detailed curriculum vitae, certified true copies of academic and professional certificates, a copy of the applicant's National Identity Card or Passport; and testimonials and other relevant supporting documents.
Applicants must also obtain clearances from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), a Credit Reference Bureau, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI) and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
"Applications should be addressed to: The Selection Panel for the Recruitment of Nominees for appointment as the Chairperson and Members of the IEBC, P.O. Box 41842-00100, Nairobi," read the instructions in part.
"Applicants must clearly indicate the reference number of the position they are applying for: CHAIRPERSON OF THE IEBC (Ref. SP/IEBC/1/2025) or MEMBER OF THE IEBC (Ref. SP/IEBC/2/2025)."
All applications have to be submitted by Saturday, February 15 at 5 pm.
