Environment Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale now claims thousands of Kenyans were killed during the previous regime under retired President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking on Sunday, February 2 during an interview with Citizen TV, Duale defended the Kenya Kwanza government saying abductions and extra-judicial killings were worse in the last administration.

CS Duale claimed that the families of victims who died would fill the entire Uhuru Park.

“In the last administration where I served as the leader of the Majority, where Fred Matiang’i, Uhuru Kenyatta, and many others served, thousands of people died. Take a camera, walk in Garissa, Mombasa, Mandera, Marsabit, or any city, and ask those who lost their loved ones during the last administration to come out. They would fill Uhuru Park,” he remarked.

The Environment CS went on to say that security agencies involved in the abductions were not acting on behalf of the Kenya Kwanza administration.

“I am not justifying what is happening now and that is why the President has been very firm. If there is anybody within the security agency that is part and parcel of the abductions that is not the position of the President,” Duale added.

His remarks come days after the discovery of the bodies of Justus Mutumwa and Martin Mwau who were among the men who went missing in Mlolongo in December 2024.

Public Service CS Justin Muturi on Friday, January 31 challenged President Ruto to put an end to the abductions and alleged extrajudicial killings.

Speaking at City Mortuary, Muturi asked the Head of State to establish a commission of inquiry to probe alleged enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings in the country.
