TikTok has revealed taking down 334,000 videos posted by Kenyan users on the social media platform.
In a report released on Thursday, February 6, TikTok detailed that the removals were done between July and September 2024.
As explained the removals were necessitated by the various policy guidelines which had been infringed by the users.
"TikTok revealed that over 334,000 videos were removed in Kenya for violating its Community Guidelines, with an impressive 88.9% taken down before they could be viewed by others, and 93% removed within 24 hours of posting," read the report in part.
In detail, TikTok noted that Kenyan users were mostly violating 4 policy guidelines including those for authenticity and integrity.

"Integrity and Authenticity: TikTok removed 99.7% of violating videos before any user reported, with 94% taken down within 24 hours. These actions are critical to combating misinformation and fraud, helping Kenyan users engage in a reliable and credible online space," TikTok added.
"Mental and Behavioural Health: 99.9% of harmful content was removed before any users reported, with 96.4% taken down within 24 hours. This reflects TikTok’s commitment to protecting its users, especially younger audiences, from content that could negatively affect mental health."
On the other hand, users also violated policies on youth safety.
Other videos that were taken down during the review period were also inappropriate videos that were sensitive or mature-themed.
