Gachagua claims that Kenyans see him as the solution to removing the current president.

Former deputy president and DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua has advised Kenyan youth to register as voters in efforts to oust President William Ruto come 2027.

Speaking at Ruiru on Saturday, September 13, Gachagua launched scathing attacks on his former boss while outlining his presidential manifesto for the 2027 general elections.

Gachagua accused President Ruto of deception and betrayal, citing his support for the current head of state during the 2022 election campaigns.

"Ruto came here on pretenses and lied to us. He was a hyena in sheep's clothing. I believed and helped him, but he betrayed us," Gachagua lamented during his address to supporters.

The former deputy president officially declared his presidential ambitions, claiming that Kenyans see him as the solution to removing the current president.

"Kenyans have told me that I'm the only way we can chase him from his seat. So I'm vying to be president of Kenya."

Gachagua outlined key pillars of his manifesto, promising significant policy changes if elected, including free education, healthcare reforms, and scrapping unpopular government programs.

"The first thing I will do is to ensure children have access to the free education introduced by the late president Mwai Kibaki. The second thing is to ensure there is medicine in hospitals, and women won't have to pay anything while giving birth. Third, I will scratch off the housing fund," he announced.

The DCP leader directly appealed to young voters, urging them to participate in the electoral process and referencing the recent Gen Z protests.

"You can't vote back someone who killed our youth. God will curse you. He needs to go. Gen Z registers as voters. Wake up early, come election time, vote, then men and women will follow later," Gachagua said.

Joining Gachagua was Kiambu Senator Karungo wa Thang'wa, who complained about the differential treatment of political rallies, suggesting that Gachagua commands more respect and fear than other leaders.

"I saw there was a senator's meeting in Kithunguri. It was peaceful; they were not chased or pelted with stones like they do to us. That means we know who is feared. Rigathi Gachagua!" the senator declared.

Thang'wa also made a controversial suggestion about adding to Gachagua's presidential manifesto.

"In your manifesto, Your Excellency Rigathi Gachagua, I want you to add one more thing: When you are in power, make sure you jail Ruto."

Gachagua has criticized the government since he was impeached as deputy president in October 2024.

His political activities have intensified as he positions himself as a key opposition figure ahead of the 2027 elections.
