The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has called on Kenyans to be on high alert for fraudsters targeting to swindle them with a fake car auction.
In a statement dated Friday, February 7, KRA flagged a fake car auction advert that was being circulated online.
The authors of the fake notice had used KRA branding for the auction scheduled for February 14.
It had been alleged that the auction would be conducted across the country with Kenyans asked to pay registration fees.

Consequently, KRA affirmed that it does not require participants to pay registration fees for its auctions.
The taxman added that the planned auctions of goods and vehicles can be confirmed on their KRA channels such as the website and the verified social media handles.
"Beware of fraudsters! KRA does not charge any registration fee for vehicle auctions. If someone asks for money upfront, it's a scam!" KRA warned.
