The Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA) has come out to condemn the macabre killing of a woman whose remains were found stuffed inside sacks in Likoni, Mombasa county.
Members of the public stumbled on the victim's body on Saturday morning, February 8.
The remains were stuffed in two separate sacks with some parts missing.
Likoni MP Mishi Mboko led the public in protesting against the rise in such incidents of insecurity.
She lamented that the security lapse in Likoni and other parts of the country had exposed women to risks, calling on the relevant players to intervene.

"We want to tell the security agents in Likoni that enough is enough. People are being attacked and now have found a woman killed and her body dismembered, other parts stuffed inside sacks, what is wrong? Can't the law enforcement agencies assure women in Likoni and Kenya that women will be safe? We want to see the perpetrators found and forced to explain why they killed this woman this brutally," said Mboko.
Her protestation mirrored that of KEWOPA, which called on the state security agencies to probe the matter.
The association expressed concerns over the state of the security of Kenyan women, calling for swift action to curb the incidents.
"We are deeply saddened by the discovery of a dismembered body believed to be that of a woman found in sacks in Approved Estate, Likoni, Mombasa, today. KEWOPA strongly condemns such acts of violence and calls for swift investigations to bring the perpetrators to justice. It is alarming to see a terrifying surge of such heinous acts bringing to the fore the status of women’s safety in Kenya. We urge the National Police Service (NPS) and DCI, Kenya Judiciary and all authorities to intensify efforts in ensuring justice and security for all. We stand in solidarity with the community and the victim’s family during this difficult time," KEWOPA said in a statement.
