This comes after the high court declared the Azimio la Umoja coalition the majority party in the National Assembly.

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has called for an Azimio parliamentary group meeting on Wednesday next week after the high court declared the Azimio la Umoja coalition as the majority party in the National Assembly.

Speaking on Saturday, February 8, at a funeral service in Kitui County, Kalonzo revealed he has spoken to retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga over the PG meeting.

“I have spoken to Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta and on Wednesday we want an Azimio parliamentary group meeting so that we can plan,” said Kalonzo.

The former vice president expressed confidence that the Kenya Kwanza side would not appeal the court decision.

“We hope there will be no stay order, they attempted to get it verbally, but it didn’t work, the lawyers were keen and now Azimio la Umoja On Kenya is the majority party,” he stated.

At the same time, Kalonzo slammed opposition elected leaders who switched sides to President Ruto’s camp saying they should have been patient.

“Those who rushed to join Ruto, I want to suggest that they do introspection and for the love of their country and democracy.... the five ODM cabinet secretaries can even resign. Wandayi was the majority leader and now he is the Energy CS he must be feeling rather awkward,” Kalonzo added.

A three-judge bench on Friday overturned a ruling that had been issued by NA Speaker Moses Wetang'ula who ruled that Kenya Kwanza was the majority side.

Justices John Chigiti, Lawrence Mugambi, and Jairus Ngaah noted that the Speaker violated the constitution in his decision.

“The Speaker cannot fault the Registrar of Political Parties. She could not provide what she did not have. The Speaker ought to have presented the agreements that were allegedly submitted during the debate. Without the post-election coalition agreements, he had no basis for his decision,” the court ruled.
