"Dad, may the Angels open the Gates of Heaven and welcome another Angel with a dance just like we did at Mjanaheri. Until we meet again."

Senate Speaker Amason Kingi is mourning following the loss of his father, Mzee Kingi Mwaruwa.

In a heartfelt tribute on Sunday, February 9, Kingi described his father as a pillar of strength, a mentor, and a guiding force in his life.

Kingi recounted a memory from Christmas Day 2024, when he danced with his father for the first time, in his adulthood, at their home in Mjanaheri village.

"Since I attained adulthood, I don’t remember ever dancing with you, Dad. Not until the 25th of December 2024 during Christmas at Mjanaheri village when, for the very first time, we danced, danced, and danced together until sunset.

"Your face beamed with joy. We were not just celebrating Christmas but giving thanks to the Almighty for your remarkable recovery after years of battling many ailments. I didn’t know that dance would be the first and last with you, Dad," he remembered.

Kingi expressed deep sorrow over his father’s passing, acknowledging the sacrifices and struggles he endured to shape him into the person he is today.

He also credited his success to the resilience and determination instilled in him by his father.

"I’m completely broken, Dad, especially when I remember the painful journey and struggles that you went through to make me who I am today. You taught me many valuable lessons, the biggest being never to give up no matter what.

"It is this lesson that has pushed me this far. Indeed, you were God’s gift to us. I would never have asked for a better father. Dad, may the Angels open the Gates of Heaven and welcome another Angel with a dance just like we did at Mjanaheri. Until we meet again, Dad," he concluded.

Kingi was born to Mwaruwa and Bahati Nzovu. He is the seventh child among his father's 41 children from five wives.

His mother, Bahati, is the first wife, with whom Mwaruwa has 13 children.
