ODM Chairperson Gladys Wanga has denied that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga endorsed Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja for reelection in 2027.
Speaking during an interview on Ramogi FM on Tuesday, February 11, Wanga expressed that Raila's statement was taken out of context.
According to the Homa Bay Governor, Raila only wished Sakaja well in his work being that he is currently the county boss.
Wanga added that the party would allow all candidates interested in the gubernatorial seat to contest for the party ticket fairly.
Already, Emabakasi East MP Babu Owino has declared his intention to unseat Sakaja in 2027.

"No one can deny Babu to contest for any seat in the party. What Raila said is that he wanted Nairobi to remain strong and be run well. It had nothing to do with 2027," she stated.
"When 2027 will come, everyone who will be interested in the gubernatorial seat will present themselves and a party primary will be done to pick the candidate that the residents want."
Raila's remarks raised eyebrows given that some party officials asked the governor to decamp to ODM from UDA.
Notably, in his remarks, Sakaja hinted that things would become clearer in the coming days adding that he would be working with the opposition party in his development agenda.
"I’ve heard what Aladwa and (Gladys) Wanga have said. Where there are clouds, there is rain. In two weeks, I want to have a meeting with ODM bosses in Nairobi. I want to show you that I’m one of you," Sakaja expressed.
