In a statement on Tuesday, February 18, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said police officers from the Githurai Police Post were on routine patrol when they encountered a disturbing scene.

"Acting swiftly and decisively, the officers intervened, arresting the trio and escorting them to Githurai Police Post where they are undergoing processing to be arraigned tomorrow.
"The Directorate of Criminal Investigations issues a stern warning to members of the public and police officers against collaborating in criminal undertakings as such activities will be met with the full force of the law," the DCI confirmed.

Notably, this incident happened the same day, Dennis Wafula Wanabisi, a police officer stationed at DCI Kibwezi, Makueni County was arraigned before the Makindu Law Courts over charges of robbery with violence.
Wanabisi was linked to robbery with violence incidents that occurred in Mtito Andei and Yikisaya Trading Centre within Kibwezi Sub-County.
Preliminary investigations indicated that Wanabisi is connected to the two robbery incidents.
His firearm was confiscated, and the empty cartridges recovered from the scenes of both incidents were sent to DCI Headquarters for ballistic examination.
An analysis confirmed that the cartridges recovered from the scene were fired from Wanabisi’s firearm.
“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations condemns such behaviour by police officers in the strongest terms possible, asserting that misconduct will be addressed with the full force of the law,” DCI said.
