A domestic dispute over food took a tragic turn in Mochokoret village, Ainabkoi Sub-County after two brothers fatally stabbed their 40-year-old sibling in a heated altercation.
In a statement on Thursday, February 20, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the incident occurred on Wednesday night when a family of four, a 70-year-old father and his three sons, sat down for dinner.
According to the investigating agency, what began as an argument over the available meal quickly escalated into violence.
"The squabble spiraled out of control despite the 70-year-old's desperate efforts to calm his progenies down, a melee that culminated in the deadly stabbing of Emmanuel Kiplagat Sing'oei, 40," the DCI statement revealed.
DCI said efforts to save the victim were futile, as he was pronounced dead upon arrival at Plateau Mission Hospital.

The fatal wound, a stab to the left side of the chest, was inflicted using a kitchen knife, which was later recovered by investigators at the scene along with a blood-stained T-shirt.
Authorities have since arrested the two suspects, Duncan Kiptoo Singo'ei, 27, and Kelvin Kiplimo Singo'ei, 25.
"Arriving at the grisly scene, investigators found the murder weapon and a blood-stained T-shirt which were preserved as an exhibit. The suspects, Duncan Kiptoo Singo'ei, 27, and Kelvin Kiplimo Singo'ei, 25, were also taken into custody, and are being processed for a court appearance," DCI concluded.

This comes a day after DCI announced the arrest of a 43-year-old woman identified as Kamanthe Makato for the brutal murder of her 71-year-old mother, Mukeli Makato.
In a statement on Wednesday, February 19, DCI said the tragedy unfolded while Mukeli was fetching firewood accompanied by her grandchild.
The agency said the situation turned deadly when Kamanthe joined them, and what started as a misunderstanding quickly escalated into violence.
According to DCI, the scene was one of horror with the young grandchild fleeing the area screaming for help after Kamanthe attacked her mother.
"Responding swiftly to the distress call, police officers arrived to find Mukeli's lifeless body lying in a pool of blood, bearing multiple deep cuts from her head down to her legs," the DCI statement continued.
The murder weapon, identified as a blood-stained panga, was recovered at the scene and has been retained as an exhibit.
