56 passengers were injured during the accident. 

Four people have died and 56 others injured after being involved in a tragic road accident at Ogona junction along the Londiani-Muhoroni highway.

The crash which happened on Monday, February 24 at around 9: 30 PM involved a Nyaugenya bus travelling to Nairobi and a truck that was heading to Muhoroni.

The bus is reported to have lost control, veered off the road, and crashed into a sugarcane plantation.

The accident resulted in led to the death of four passengers, one male and three female who died on the spot.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to St. Vincent de Paul Hospital Mortuary for identification and autopsy.

On the other hand, the 56 passengers who sustained injuries were taken to various hospitals, including St. Vincent Mission Hospital, Koru Mission Hospital, and Muhoroni Subcounty Hospital for medical attention.

Four of the injured passengers were transferred to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu for specialized medical care.

The accident comes days after three students from the South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU) were killed in a road accident near Vonza market along the Kitui-Machakos highway.

The students who were riding a motorcycle rammed into a stationary truck and all died on the spot.

The bodies of the three students were taken to the Kitui County and Referral Hospital Mortuary.
