The government has made changes to address security and crowd management issues during Sunday's matches at Kasarani and Nyayo stadiums.
Speaking on Thursday, August 7, Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omolloh acknowledged the deployment failures that led to crowd congestion and outlined corrective measures being implemented for future matches.
"Just like the chair has said, we had a late deployment on Sunday. We have now corrected that," Omolloh stated during a press briefing.
He explained that the late deployment of security personnel was the primary cause of crowd pile-ups at the stadium entrances.
"That late deployment is what led to the pile-up of people. Because we have deployed in good time, people will be cleared as soon as they come, so there is no room for that congestion," the PS added.

The government has implemented several improvements to prevent a repeat of Sunday's incidents. These include proper placement of barriers to direct spectators to designated gates and early deployment of security personnel and stewards.
"The barriers have also been properly put in place so that everybody is directed based on the gates you're supposed to go through," Omolloh explained.
He also urged fans to cooperate with stewards and security officers for smooth operations.
The Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN), Nicholas Musonye, also addressed the Sunday incidents, confirming that the delayed deployment of stewards and volunteers was the root cause of the problems.

To prevent future congestion, organizers have adopted a strategy of opening gates several hours before match time.
For Thursday's 7 PM game, gates were scheduled to open at 1 PM, providing a six-hour window for spectators to enter without rushing.
"We are giving people time to come in without causing any congestion around the gates because we are giving that long duration so that you can come and enjoy yourself, get the ticket," the LOC Chairman said.
The organizers have also enhanced the fan experience by providing additional amenities, including snacks and refreshments, within the stadium grounds.
"Everything is okay now. Today there's no hitch. Deployment has been done," the Chairman assured, expressing confidence in the improved arrangements.
