NACADA confiscated 16 shisha bongs, 106 cartons of assorted shisha flavors, and a charcoal burner.

The National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (Nacada) has arrested two suspects after a raid for illegal shisha trade at the popular Pulse Lounge, along Lang'ata Road in Nairobi County.

In a statement on Thursday, March 6, NACADA said it confiscated 16 shisha bongs, 106 cartons of assorted shisha flavors, and a charcoal burner during the raid.

“During the operation 16 shisha bongs, 106 cartons of assorted shisha flavors, and a charcoal burner were confiscated.

“Two individuals were arrested during the raid and are set to be arraigned in court, marking a significant crackdown on the illegal shisha trade in the country,” read part of the statement.

NACADA Director of Compliance and Enforcement James Koskey warned members against the sale and consumption of shisha.

“While shisha culture has been a staple for many social spots, it’s crucial to remember that compliance with existing laws and regulations is non-negotiable.

“This incident serves as a reminder for businesses to operate within legal boundaries and prioritize the safety and well-being of their patrons,” Koskei stated.

This comes days after NACADA arrested two individuals over shisha after raiding the Paris Lounge in Lang’ata.

In the crackdown, NACADA said that they confiscated 39 shisha bongs, 11 cartons of charcoal, 12 cartons of assorted flavors, and 13 charcoal carriers during the raid.
