The accident occurred after a pickup rammed into a truck.

One person has passed away and two others injured after they were involved in a road accident at Kinungi along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway just hours after another crash left 16 people injured.

In a statement on Sunday, March 9, St John Ambulance said the accident occurred on Saturday night after a pickup rammed into a truck.

“One person killed on the spot and two others injured in yet another road crash at Kinungi, less than 12 hours after the last accident left 16 casualties.

“The incident involved a pickup that rammed into a truck at Kwa Makara, Kinungi along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway, adding to the growing toll of road carnage in the area,” the statement read in part.

The organization noted that its first responders braved the cold night to provide first aid and ensure the injured were taken to Naivasha Sub-County Hospital.

Earlier on Saturday, 16 people were injured in the same spot after a 14-seater matatu collided head-on collision with a personal car.

 Volunteers from St John Ambulance responded swiftly to the accident, providing first aid before the injured were taken to Naivasha Sub-County Hospital for specialized care.

“Head-on collision at Kinungi Soweto involving a personal car and a matatu leaves 16 casualties. St John Kenya volunteers responded swiftly, providing lifesaving First Aid before the injured were rushed to Naivasha Sub-County Hospital,” St John Ambulance stated.
