“Rainfall intensity will reduce midweek but increase again towards the end of the period.”

The Kenya Meteorological Department has announced that rainfall will reduce in most parts of the country mid this week.

In a statement on Thursday, March 13, the weatherman said the rains will resume at the end of the week.

The Met Department noted that rainfall is expected in Highlands West and East of the Rift Valley which includes Nairobi.

Other parts of the country that will experience the rains include; Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, the South-eastern Lowlands, the Coast, and parts of Northwestern and Northeastern Kenya

“Rainfall expected over Highlands West and East of the Rift Valley (including Nairobi), Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, South-eastern Lowlands, Coast and parts of Northwestern and Northeastern Kenya.

“Rainfall intensity will reduce midweek but increase again towards the end of the period,” the weather forecast read in part.

At the same time, the weatherman announced that daytime temperatures exceeding 30°C will be experienced in the Coast, Northeastern, and Northwestern Kenya regions.

On the other hand, Highlands East of Rift, Central Rift Valley, and Mt. Kilimanjaro region will experience night temperatures of below 10°C.

On Saturday, March 8, the Met Department issued a heavy rainfall alert, warning residents in multiple counties to brace for potential floods and poor visibility over the coming days.

The weatherman forecasted heavy rainfall exceeding 20mm in 24 hours in parts of the Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, and Highlands West and East of the Rift Valley.
