A 22-year-old man has been arraigned in a Kiambu court for threatening to kill President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Simon Muchiri was arraigned in court on March 1, 2021, after he had in a Facebook post threatened to shoot the president 'if only' he had a gun.
The prosecution told the court that the suspect shared the post on February 27 from an unknown location.

Muchiri was accused of improper use of his social media account by employing it to cause unrest to the Office of the President and persons associated with it.
The man was arrested after sleuths reviewed the shared message and tracked him using his mobile phone number.
"...that on February 27 at an unknown place you published on your Facebook page that you would kill President Uhuru Kenyatta without hesitation if only you had a gun," the prosecution told the court.
Muchiri however denied the charges and was released on a Ksh200,000 cash bail.
The amount was settled upon after his defence argued that he was a young adult and a first-time offender, thus pleading for a reasonable bail amount.
Kiambu Principal Magistrate Grace Omodho set the pre-trial date for March 15, 2021. On this date, the prosecution will present all the evidence they intend to use against Muchiri.
