Murega Baichu, the spouse of former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza, has revealed that they are exiting the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
Speaking during an interview on Baite TV on Sunday, March 16, Baichu expressed that they would leave the ruling party, citing betrayal in the recent impeachment.
According to Baichu, Mwangaza still had plans to contest for the county seat in 2027 hence the need for a new political plan.
Therefore, he detailed that they were planning on launching a party ahead of the 2027 polls.

"We are not seeking for the governor's seat again on an independent ticket. We will contest for the seat through our own political party," he announced.
"We have already completed the plans for our political party. The party is already registered and has membership in 35 counties. We have over 35 counties. We have not launched the party because that is a requirement."
Additionally, he detailed that they were pushing for Mwangaza to be named as the party leader of the party.
"If she accepts, within the next one week, she will make an announcement and tell us which way to go," he added.
Mwangaza lost her seat as Meru Governor after the High Court threw out a petition that was challenging the impeachment.
Following the ruling, Isaac Mutuma was sworn in as the new county boss on Monday, March 17.
