DCI said witnesses found two unknown men allegedly forcing themselves on the young woman, believed to be in her early 20s. 

Detectives in Embakasi have launched investigations into the brutal murder of a young woman who was reportedly strangled to death by two men in the Jua Kali, Embakasi.  

In a statement on Tuesday, March 18, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the horrifying incident occurred late last night and was first reported by three local residents who responded to a distress call.

"The incident that occurred last night was reported by three Jua Kali residents who had responded to a distress call after hearing a commotion near their houses at around midnight," the statement read.

Upon arriving at the scene, the DCI said witnesses found two unknown men allegedly forcing themselves on the young woman, believed to be in her early 20s. 

However, the suspects fled into the darkness upon noticing the residents.

"At Embakasi Police Station, the three reported to have found two unknown men forcing themselves on the young woman believed to be in her early 20s, but who bolted out into the dark at the approach of the responders," the statement added.

The police were later alerted, and a team that included crime scene investigators (CSI) from Nairobi arrived at the location. 

They discovered the woman's unresponsive body, her underpants lowered, and visible strangulation marks on her neck

"Police who included CSI personnel from Nairobi area arrived at the scene to find the unresponsive body of the lady, with lowered underpants and strangulation marks on her neck," the statement further read. 

Authorities documented the scene before moving the body to the City Mortuary, where it awaits identification and an autopsy.
