"Some are telling us to go in a different direction, but yesterday you were calling us hyenas, and today we have suddenly become angels. How does one go from being a hyena to an angel just like that?"

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga now says he will not be deceived by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to join their side.

Speaking on Wednesday, March 19 during an Iftar dinner in Upper Hill, Nairobi, Odinga noted that he is confident in the decision he has made and the path he is taking.

The ODM Party leader questioned how Gachagua who had been attacking him, now wants to join forces with him.

"We know the decision we have taken, we are aware of it, we know where we are headed. Some are telling us to go in a different direction, but yesterday you were calling us hyenas, and today we have suddenly become angels. How does one go from being a hyena to an angel just like that? We cannot be deceived we know where we are going,” said Odinga.

The ODM boss asked his supporters to remain firm noting that he is confident that he will achieve his goals.

Odinga also recalled Gachagua’s past assertions that he had set up traps to lock him out of State House.

"We are telling our people to stand firm, and we are confident that we will reach our goal. However, we do not want the hypocrisy of someone who previously claimed that we had set traps. As the Swahili say, a mousetrap catches both those who are there and those who are not; now, those who set the traps have been caught in them,” he added.

Gachagua has previously extended an olive branch to the ODM leader to express his desire to work together with him ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The former DP said he could help Odinga win the Presidency in the next election.
