The accident involved a 14-seater Matatu and a lorry ferrying sugarcane.

Four people, including 3 students, have lost their lives after being involved in a nasty road accident on Wednesday, April 2, morning in Nyakach along the Sondu-Katito Road in Kisumu County.

The accident, which took place at Kibuon past the Nyabondo junction, involved a 14-seater Matatu and a lorry ferrying sugarcane.

Reports indicate that the driver of the matatu lost control before the vehicle rammed into the lorry.

The matatu was carrying Ober Boys Boarding Primary School pupils who were heading to school, among other passengers.

Three of the students and a conductor of the matatu died on the spot, while others suffered injuries and were taken to Nyabondo Hospital for medical attention.

The accident comes days after seven family members died following an accident along the Naivasha-Longonot Highway.

The accident occurred on Sunday, March 30, at night after a Land Cruiser rammed head-on into a trailer near Mirera estate along the Naivasha-Mai Mahiu Road.

The vehicle was carrying our children and three adults, who all died on the spot. The deceased were travelling from a memorial service of their who had died last week.

Images captured after the accident on Monday, May 31, showed damage to the front side of the vehicle. More impact was visible on the driver's side.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to Naivasha and Nakuru morgues, while the wreckage of the vehicle was towed to Naivasha Police Station.
