ODM also accused the Wiper leader of doublespeak, given that one of his allies was also part of the selection panel.

ODM has clapped back at Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka for claiming that the party was interfering with the recruitment of IEBC commissioners.

In a statement issued by the party's Central Committee on Wednesday, April 2, the party accused Kalonzo of attempting to discredit the work of the selection panel.

The party, headed by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, opined that the claims were also aimed at discrediting the team that will be selected to head the electoral body.

"We view the accusation by a section of Azimio leaders as an attempt to pre-emptively discredit the panel and the outcome of the entire process," read the statement in part.

"Kenyans have waited a long time to have an electoral commission in place and will not countenance any attempts to derail or delay the process."

On the other hand, ODM accused the Wiper leader of doublespeak, given that one of his allies was also part of the selection panel.

"Following the support of ODM both at the PPLC and in Court, Wiper got its rightful slot, and as we speak, Wiper’s Nominee to the panel, Koki Muli, has been part of the process from shortlisting to the ongoing candidate interviews," ODM added.

"In fact, one of the candidates shortlisted for membership in the Commission is Hon. Musyoka’s advisor, and this is fully within the candidate's constitutional right."

The response by ODM came after Kalonzo and opposition leaders called on President William Ruto to engage with the opposition party before the commissioners are settled on.

According to Kalonzo and his team, ODM could no longer speak for the opposition as they had a signed agreement with UDA.
