Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina has criticized the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), questioning the agency’s impartiality in the fight against corruption.
In a statement on Sunday, April 6, Ole Kina cast doubt on the EACC’s intentions citing the arrest of a governor whose region was ranked fourth in a report on corruption.
"Is the EACC also involved in corruption? How can you release a report identifying the most corrupt counties and then arrest the governor of county number 4 while skipping the top-ranked county?" He asked.
Ole Kina noted that accountability must be applied uniformly, warning that selective arrests could erode public trust in anti-corruption institutions.
"It's essential to arrest and bring the governors of counties 1 through 3 to court as well so we can have a clearer understanding of the situation," he added.

Notably, this comes two months after EACC arrested Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok in connection to a Ksh1.4 billion scandal.
In a statement dated Thursday, February 6, EACC detailed it was investigating the fraudulent payment of Ksh1,451,882,576 to senior employees of the county government.
As revealed by the Commission, the money was paid to the officials as suppliers yet no works or services were rendered.
Apart from Barchok, the investigation targeted also 8 county officials and 2 contractors.
"The operation, which was undertaken in various premises linked to the suspects in Nairobi and Bomet Counties pursuant to court orders, yielded crucial evidentiary material that will aid in finalization of the ongoing investigation.
"Governor Barchok has been escorted to the Commission's South Rift Regional Offices in Nakuru for further processing," EACC said in a statement at the time.
