Nairobi County Chief Officer for Environment Geoffrey Mosiria has announced a new crackdown targeting businesses playing loud music within the CBD.
In a statement dated Tuesday, April 8, Mosiria noted that there were businesses that were playing loud music even during the day.
He added that the loud music, especially from electronic shops had caused disturbance to residents and other facilities within the CBD.
Therefore, he cautioned those with businesses to adhere to regulations set out by the national and county governments.

"We have initiated a crackdown on shops within the Central Business District (CBD) that are playing loud music. The noise pollution from these establishments has made it difficult for other business owners to operate effectively, with some even reporting health complications, including mental health issues.
"It is important to note that the CBD also hosts learning institutions and numerous offices where meetings and other official functions are held," read the statement in part.
Last week, Mosiria also warned businesses over littering near their shops.
According to the county executive, business owners are required to take charge of the cleanliness of areas bordering 10 meters of their establishments.
"We must restore order. Any matatu operators whose workstations are found littered with garbage from their vehicles will face the necessary disciplinary action," he added.
"It is their responsibility to clean and maintain a 10-meter radius around their workplace."
